Stureplan. A square in the rich area of Stockholm. Considered rich. With a larger amount of well-dressed people. If you by well-dressed mean similarlooking people in rather expensive clothes and shoes. They know exactly what to wear in formally dress-coded situation and what exact shape of shirt collar to wear this season.
It is a common meeting place and a center of Stockholm nightlife. In Stockholm County Stureplan has the largest amount of filed reports of violence. Most of them happens during nighttime, between three and six a clock.
Stureplan is a symbol, but what is it to experience it yourself? What happens on the lunch hour an ordninary weekday? A place we rarely visit. Can we go there and make it ours?
We went there. We danced there. We lived there, we kept our bodies there for an hour that passed very quickly. It was great fun. We moved in patterns. We were far apart. We were close. We pushed each other fiercely. We touched each other gently. We ran. We accepted everything that came. It didn't matter if we were scattered or close. Always together. Our attention to each other. At the same time feeling the space and the energy of everyone there.
We were noticed. By tourists and office people off to eat their lunch. We took a lot of space. A lot of people passed. Many stopped and watched us spin. There was a friendly atmosphere, a lot of smiles.
In the end we where comfortable in the space. Stureplan felt, in that moment, as any other group of concrete tiles.
